At Ito World, we solve transportation challenges across the globe for millions of travellers every day, by delivering real-time transit data feeds to journey planners and a platform for transit authorities and operators. Our clients include Google, Apple, Microsoft and public sector organisations such as the Department of Transport and Transport for West Midlands.

 

The Test Engineer role

 

We are looking for a talented Test Engineer to join our QA team at Ito World. You will be testing our products that are used to manage and deliver both scheduled and real time transit data to our customers.

You will have great attention to detail, are passionate about the testing process and also delivering high-quality, well-tested products. You will need to be an excellent team-player who is able to contribute to our highly-skilled team. 

 

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Test Lead, the role will involve:

• Manual testing of systems including UI, API and databases where applicable
• Maintaining regression packs so they are up to date with the functionality
• Designing and executing where needed Non-Functional Tests predominantly: Accessibility and Browser/Device Compatibility
• Working closely with the developers and other testers to continually improve the quality of our software
• Getting involved throughout the development and testing process
• Owning and delivering on sprint and release test objectives
• Ensuring the right test cases are automated
• Working to ensure best practices are followed around testing standards and strategies
• Ensuring sprint and product release test objectives are met

As a key member of the team, you will be working in an environment that values your enthusiasm and ideas as well as your skills and experience.

 

What skills you have

We would expect you to have the necessary skills in the following areas:

• An understanding of web based applications and services
• Ability to analyze and understand requirements and/or user stories
• A basic understanding of Automated Test Frameworks
• Ability to understand python test code with guidance
• Ability to identify and clearly communicate issues to developers and other project stakeholders
• A strong desire to get deeply involved, learn new things and identify/fix problems
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and positively manage changes to workload
• Experience with using task management tools (ideally Jira and TestRail)
• A basic understanding of an agile (Scrum) team
• An ability to learn new products and methodologies quickly and confidently
• Ability to focus on tasks but welcome collaboration and peer review
• Experience testing big data applications

You will also need an eye for attention to detail. As a team we are passionate about the quality of our software, not just how it's written but also how it's tested and deployed.
