The role


We are looking for a talented Python/Django Developer with experience of building web applications and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using the Django framework to join our development team at Ito World.


As a key member of the team, you will be working in an environment that values your enthusiasm and ideas as well as your development skills and experience. You will also have great attention to detail and are passionate about delivering high-quality code that has been well tested and documented. 


The Python/Django Developer role is based at our Cambridge head office, but Ito World has a flexible and remote working culture and will consider applicants that may prefer to work remotely.


What the Python/Django Developer will be doing


Reporting to the Full-Stack Team Lead, the Python/Django Developer will be:


  • Building web applications and APIs with Django.
  • Building GraphQL and REST APIs.
  • Working closely with the product manager to capture requirements and generate designs to fulfil those requirements.
  • Creating visually appealing and intuitive UIs with Angular.
  • Peer design and code reviews.
  • Writing clean, readable, and well-tested code.
  • Solving challenging problems related to transit data exchange.
  • Collaborating with a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.
  • Understanding complex project requirements to uncover compelling solutions.
  • Guiding project development and mentoring of junior team members.


As well as these, you will be expected to demonstrate best practices for the software development process, including unit testing, code reviews and documentation.


What skills the Python/Django Developer will have


We would expect you to be educated to degree level and have the necessary skills in the following areas:


  • Solid experience using Django, or similar Python-based web framework in a commercial environment.
  • Angular or a similar JavaScript/Typescript framework.
  • Implementation of UI/UX designs using HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of Git and Git workflows.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • An innovative and creative approach to software development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other developers, testers and product managers.


Other skills that would be desirable include Jira (or some other sprint/issue tracking system), Git, Docker, and cloud-based systems.
