The role

We are looking for a talented Junior Test Engineer to join our QA team at Ito World. You will be testing our internal web-based applications that are used for the management of our customers scheduled and real time data.

You will have great attention to detail, are passionate about the testing process and also delivering high-quality, well-tested products. You will need to be an excellent team-player who is able to contribute to our highly-skilled team.

The role is based at our Cambridge head office, but Ito World has a flexible and remote working culture and will consider applicants that may prefer to work remotely.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Test Lead, the role will involve:

  • Manual testing of systems including UI, API and databases
  • Writing and executing test cases for new and existing features
  • Maintaining regression packs so they are up to date with the functionality
  • Reviewing automated tests to ensure they meet the manual test objectives
  • Working closely with the developers to continually improve the quality of our software
  • Getting involved throughout the development process
  • Work to ensure best practices are followed around testing standards and strategies
  • Being part of an Agile team made up of testers, developers and a product owner
  • Assisting senior and mid level testers with sprint and release testing

As a key member of the team, you will be working in an environment that values your enthusiasm and ideas as well as your skills and experience.

What skills you need to have

We would expect you to have the necessary skills in the following areas:

  • Basic knowledge of testing methodologies
  • An understanding of web based applications and services
  • Ability to analyze and understand requirements and/or user stories
  • Ability to identify and clearly communicate issues to developers
  • A strong desire to get deeply involved, learn new things and identify/fix problems
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and positively manage changes to workload
  • Experience with using task management tools (ideally Jira and TestRail)
  • A basic understanding of an agile (Scrum) team
  • An ability to learn new products and methodologies quickly and confidently
  • Ability to focus on tasks but welcome collaboration and peer review
  • A passion for testing big data applications

You will also need an eye for attention to detail. As a team we are passionate about the quality of our software, not just how it's written but also how it's tested and deployed.
